Good morning everyone

Your task today is to begin adding values to your drawing.
Step 2 objective: Complete your drawing by adding a full range of values in black, white and gray tones.
The drawing should not lose any detail, but rather be enhanced by the values to show light, shadow and the illusion of 3 dimensional space by adding shadow.

Please view the PowerPoint presentation titled Value Presentation 2 to get a better understanding of how values effect shadow and depth. The presentation called Value Drawings will provide excellent examples of work in black and white using a full value range.

Your values will be achieved by using varying pressure on your pencil to achieve very dark tones(heavy pressure), or very light tones (light pressure). Small details are made by using a sharp point, broad areas of value are made by using the edge of the pencil. Smooth transitions of value can be done using your finger to blend and smudge or a tissue to do the same thing. Filling your drawing with a wide range of values can be a time taking step so be patient.

As always take your time and enjoy what you are drawing. Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Mark as turned in when you finish.
If you’ve seen any news recently you can see our country is hurting. On top of all the COVID-19 our country needs peace and equality. We will have a prayer circle during morning meeting so please come on with a prayerful heart. If you have any intentions you can add them to the comments.

Morning Meeting for everyone today!

The question for today is have you been watching the news? It’s ok if you haven’t. Sometimes it can be stressful. Make sure to talk with someone, especially your parents if you have questions or thoughts. It’s iomportant to have a voice!
Good morning everyone.
Almost time for a 4 day weekend!

Today we will begin our final art project of the school year.

Drawing a view through a window is a challenging task but there is something rewarding about trying to capture what you can see through each pane of glass or section. When you start, lots of decisions are going to be made. Which window has a good view? Where are you going to sit? Are you going to draw any of the inside, or just the window frame and outside?

Your task today is to draw a view through a window. First look at the examples I have included in the linked folder.
These were not all done by students so do not get nervous.
You will immediately notice that all of these drawings are black and white.
I am challenging you to also draw in black and white. Include all different gray tones necessary by using different amounts of pressure with your pencil. These are called values.
You can blend and smudge with your finger or a tissue.

Remember to lightly sketch and plan your drawing before adding detail. Pay close attention to the size of objects as they get further away as well as the amount of detail you see in far away objects. Objects changing in size, height on the page and amount of detail is what we call visual perspective. We are drawing the way our eyes actually see things.

For today please sketch and draw your picture with all the detail you feel is necessary. Next class we will talk more about value and using black, white and gray. If you feel ready to begin adding your values to your drawing you may.
As always take your time and enjoy what you are drawing. Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Mark as turned in when you finish. Have a great weekend.
