For Computer Class this cycle I would like everyone to try to do some coding using the following link I have provided. You will start off by creating your own coding monster and when finished you will see the "START" button in the top corner. Hit this to begin. Get as far as you can in this for about 30 minutes. If you finish it great, if not no worries. For many of us it is our first time coding so just do what you can and try not to get frustrated. Have fun everyone!
Due:
Good morning boys and girls.
Today we will begin the final art project of the school year.
You will be using all of your creativity to draw a castle.
I have included a how-to handout in the linked folder. This is strictly for practice and to get you started.
I have also included some other examples for you to look at.
Your castle should be completely original and one of a kind.
Use rulers and compasses when appropriate.
You can draw a fantasy castle, fairy tale castle, medieval castle or any other type you can think of.
Your creativity is the most important part of this project. Give your castle a story as if you were an author writing a book. All of the interesting things you would like a reader to visualize you can include in your drawing.
For this week please begin by sketching your castle and an appropriate background setting. Think of a location that would be interesting for your setting. What types of creatures or animals can be added? Will you be in the drawing?
When your sketch is finished please finalize your drawing with details, color and any extra things you would like to add.
There are some resources for you to view in the linked folder.

Good morning girls and boys.
Today you will begin adding color to your texture project.
The colors you choose should match the texture you drew.
You should also add skin tone color to the hand where appropriate.
You can use any type of coloring supplies that you have.
You can also draw and color a background if you choose. It can be creative and imaginative just like the hand.
I have added 2 more examples in the folder.
Have fun coloring your project.
Be super creative and remember that your textures should be realistic in color to try to fool the viewer.
Be sure to mark as turned in when you finish.
We will be ready for a new project next class.

Good morning girls and boys.
Its Friday!
Today we are going to begin a fun project that involves texture.
The definition of texture is, how something feels or looks like it feels.
Your job is to trick someone into thinking that your drawing has different textures.
I have included a short Power Point presentation that shows some textures in animal art.
You, however, will be drawing your hands. Each finger must show a different texture. I have included a handout in the folder that explains the idea.
I have also included some examples of student drawings of this project. Please look at them but try not to copy them exactly as you see them.
Here are the steps for today's drawing of your "Texture Hand"
1. Trace your hand in the middle of your paper.
2. Fill each finger with a different texture.
3. Use the handout in the folder as an example or create your own textures.
4. Above the hand drawing, neatly write "Texture" and the definition: "how something feels or looks like it feels".
5. The first part of this project should be done in pencil, no color yet.
Have fun with this project. Be super creative and remember that your textures should be realistic to try to fool the viewer.

Also, please review the examples I have provided so you can see what the final product should resemble.
When you finish please put your name on your artwork and share with me if you can. Please make sure you mark as turned in so I know you completed the project.
I can not wait to see the results of your hard work.
Those of you that are already finished should feel free to work on the sketchbook ideas I provided, or any other sketching/drawing you would like to do.
Just as if we were in school, if you have extra time please use it wisely.

Daniel Dancer - Step 2
I hope you enjoyed looking at Daniel Dancer's artwork.
It's always fun learning about a new artist, especially one as unique as Daniel Dancer.
Today I would like you to begin adding color to your drawing.
Start with the animal. We will work on the background next class.
Please review the examples in the folder.
Daniel Dancer used people in his art and they looked like small dots when viewed from far away. We will try to accomplish something similar by using a technique called pointillism. Pointillism is when artists use small dots of color to make large areas of color. I have included some famous examples of pointillism in the drive folder for you to look at. If you had trouble viewing the examples last class try clicking the .pdf file.
If you have paint, you can use the eraser end of a pencil to make your dots. You can also use a q-tip or any other tool that will make a small dot. If you don't have paint you can accomplish this step by using the tip of a marker to make the dots. You may need to be creative in how you figure out how to make your dots.
Remember to be neat and take your time. Use different colors to create your animals.

Daniel Dancer - Step 1
Please view the attached PowerPoint presentation to learn about Daniel Dancer and his work.
I have also attached examples for you to view.
The first step of your project will be to draw your favorite animal to the best of your ability.
The animal should be drawn large as it is the focal point of the work. Using a reference (photo or other image) of the animal will be helpful. Some but not all detail should be included.
Remember to draw lightly and begin with a sketch that eventually will become your completed drawing. The examples I am including are completed projects. Please only complete todays portion of the project. I will explain the next step on our next A day.
This project can be completed on a piece of printer paper or any other paper that is available to you. You should spend 30 to 40 minutes on this drawing. Please take your time and put in your best effort.
Have fun!
