Due:
Good morning everyone.
I hope you all enjoyed the amazing 4 day weekend we just had.
Believe it or not, it is time to begin our final project of the school year.
Today you will begin drawing a self portrait.
This picture, however, will not include your face.
This is a symbolic self portrait.
You will only be drawing part of yourself. The rest of the drawing will include objects and other clues that tell the viewer something about you, the artist,
If this sounds confusing, it really is quite simple.
Look at the examples in the folder to get a better understanding of the project.
You will need a horizontal line to break up the image into 2 spaces.
You will then draw yourself from the legs down. You can choose your favorite pants, shorts, skirt etc, as well as your favorite shoes or sneakers.
After you draw yourself you need to begin adding objects that describe you, your interests, hobbies, traditions, etc.. These will all be placed on the ground around you. The viewer should learn something about you when they see these items. Please try to include 5 or more objects.
For today please sketch and draw your picture with all the detail you feel is necessary.
Next class we will talk about color options.
As always take your time and enjoy what you are drawing. Anything worth doing is worth doing well.
Mark as turned in when you finish.

Good morning everyone.
I want to start today by asking everyone to slow down and follow directions.
I am posting these projects similar to as if we were in school.
Some of you are completing the projects before I even give the directions.
Some of these projects are coming in rushed and incorrect.
I would also like to stress neatness and craftsmanship, two things you always hear me talk about in school.
If any of you would like to re-do the project and re-submit it when I ask for it please do so.
If you want to do extra drawings with some of your free time, that would be fabulous.
I completely encourage you to do so.
Today we will finish our family flag.
You should have created 2 or 3 sketches after you brainstormed some ideas.
I would like you to draw your favorite idea neatly and begin adding color to your flag.
Rulers, compasses or any other drawing tools should be used to help with your lines and shapes.
You can use any coloring supplies you have to add color. You may even want to use cut paper similar to a collage to complete your project.
Please review the Power Point presentation as well as the examples in the folder.
You do not need to complete this project in one sitting. You can always go back to it to complete it.
If you would like to review the directions from last class, I have added the link below.

We are going to continue with our Coding work this week using the Tynker website. I have included your usernames and passwords again in case you forgot them. The app should remember where you left off, but if you forgot just continue off around where you think you should.
-Open the the Tynker website link below and sign in as a student with your username and password
-After you login, you will see my classroom(Mr. Kramer 2025) at the top. Click it
-Work for 30 minutes on this. There is no amount of levels that you must complete as everyone works at their own pace. If you get stuck, you may skip to the next number ahead, so try not to get frustrated.

Due:
Happy Star Wars Day everyone.
May the 4th. be with you!
We have all been spending a lot of time with our families over the last couple of months.
For this project I want you to think about your immediate family (family living in your house). This can include pets. I know my pets are part of my family.
I want you to create a flag that represents your family.
This flag can be made using collage, markers, paint, or any other art media that you have.
This flag should be completely symbolic. You will not be drawing your actual family, but rather representing them with shapes, colors and symbols. Think of the American flag.
The stripes represent the original 13 Colonies and the stars represent the 50 states of the Union.
The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor, white symbolizes purity and innocence, and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice.
Think about the values your family possesses and what colors could represent those traits.
Think about the shapes you choose. Do you want straight lines and edges (geometric shapes), or do you want free flowing (organic) shapes.
Will your design be symmetrical (exactly the same on both sides like a mirror), or asymmetrical, (different in all areas).
The choices you make will determine the effect your flag has on the person viewing it.
Neatness is important. Straight lines should be ruler straight, circles should be made with a compass. Any drawing tools to help you should be used.
I have included a Power Point presentation that has the project requirements listed as well as many unique examples of flag designs.
Think about what the colors, symbols and shapes might represent on the examples. Please use these as a reference but do not copy them.
For the first step today, I would like you to brainstorm some design ideas about shapes, colors and their meanings. Then I would like you to pencil sketch 2 or 3 of those ideas.
Next class you will finalize your choice and begin the second step.
Have fun with this project. As always, be creative!

Good morning 3rd grade! Let's see what you remember from our BPO concert in February! Follow the directions to label the instruments and then put them in their proper instrument families. Hint: the violin and viola are similar but one is a little larger and deeper sounding. Can you remember which is which? You can email me your or answers or send them through google classroom. Have fun! Please have these done by your next music class.

Good morning everyone. It's almost the weekend!
You are all doing great work. Thank you for all the effort you have been putting forward.
For this week I would like you to create a sketch and eventually a final drawing of your choice.
A lot of the projects we do don't always give you the freedom to choose your topics.
I would like you to choose an idea from the sketchbook assignment linked below, or come up with a completely original idea.
Remember to follow the same steps we do in class. All good artists sketch first before finalizing their idea and drawing.
After your idea is complete and drawn you can work in black and white or color.
You may choose whatever art materials you have at home to complete the picture.
Be creative and do your best. Use any references you may need to help you draw. This is your chance to have complete freedom over your artwork.
Remember, if you a hard time coming up with an idea you can look at the sketchbook ideas. The link is below.

Mosaic - Final Step
Good morning boys & girls. Welcome back from Easter break. I hope you all enjoyed the time off with your families.
Today we will be completing the work on our mosaic project.
The final step of our project will be to complete adding mosaic pieces to the animal and background.
Remember to use a variety of colors to show the different parts of the animals natural environment. Please take your time and put forth your best effort. Please mark complete when you are done. If you can share an image of your final results please do so. I am really anxious to see the great work you have all done.
If you have already finished this project you may spend some time drawing using the ideas posted about keeping a sketchbook. This is a great way to draw many different things and improve your drawing skills.
We will begin a new project on Friday.
Have a great week everyone. Hopefully it will be more dry outside than last week.

Due:
Mosaic - Step 2
Please review the attached PowerPoint presentation to learn about different types of Mosaics.
We will be working on step 2 beginning today.
The second step of our project will be to add mosaic pieces to the animal you drew. You may need to be creative with your pieces. You can use construction paper pieces, recycled paper or cardboard pieces, color on paper with colored pencil, crayon or marker and then tear or cut it into small pieces. You may have some other ideas that I would love to see. Any mosaic pieces you choose can be cut with scissors like in class or you can tear them to have a more natural look.
Please only complete todays portion of the project. Steps 3 & 4 from the final slide. There is a new example in the linked drive folder. I will explain the next step on our next session day. You should spend 30 to 40 minutes on this part of the project. Please take your time and put in your best effort. Please mark complete when you are done. Have fun!

Mosaic - Step 1
Please view the attached PowerPoint presentation to learn about different types of Mosaics.
I have also attached the presentation we viewed in school.
We will be taking a different approach to this project than we did in school.
The first step of your project will be to draw your favorite animal of the water or of the sky to the best of your ability.
This should be drawn large as it is the focal point of the work. Using a reference (photo or other image) of the animal will be helpful. Some but not all detail should be included. Remember to draw lightly and begin with a sketch that eventually will become your completed drawing. Please only complete todays portion of the project. Steps 1 & 2 from the final slide. I will explain the next step on our next session day. This project can be completed on a piece of printer paper or any other paper that is available to you. You should spend 30 to 40 minutes on this drawing. Please take your time and put in your best effort. Please mark complete when you are done. Have fun!
