Computer Class 6/2

For Computer Class this cycle I would like everyone to try to do some coding using the following link I have provided. You will start off by creating your own coding monster and when finished you will see the "START" button in the top corner. Hit this to begin. Get as far as you can in this for about 30 minutes. If you finish it great, if not no worries. For many of us it is our first time coding so just do what you can and try not to get frustrated. Have fun everyone!

Art - 5/19/2020

Good morning girls and boys.

Today you will begin adding color to your texture project.

The colors you choose should match the texture you drew.
You should also add skin tone color to the hand where appropriate.

You can use any type of coloring supplies that you have.
You can also draw and color a background if you choose. It can be creative and imaginative just like the hand.
I have added 2 more examples in the folder.

Have fun coloring your project.
Be super creative and remember that your textures should be realistic in color to try to fool the viewer.
Be sure to mark as turned in when you finish.

We will be ready for a new project next class.

Art - 5/7/2020

Good morning girls and boys.
Its almost the weekend!

Today we are going to begin a fun project that involves texture.
The definition of texture is, how something feels or looks like it feels.
Your job is to trick someone into thinking that your drawing has different textures.

I have included a short Power Point presentation that shows some textures in animal art.
You, however, will be drawing your hands. Each finger must show a different texture. I have included a handout in the folder that explains the idea.
I have also included some examples of student drawings of this project. Please look at them but try not to copy them exactly as you see them.

Here are the steps for today's drawing of your "Texture Hand"

1. Trace your hand in the middle of your paper.
2. Fill each finger with a different texture.
3. Use the handout in the folder as an example or create your own textures.
4. Above the hand drawing, neatly write "Texture" and the definition: "how something feels or looks like it feels".
5. The first part of this project should be done in pencil, no color yet.

Have fun with this project. Be super creative and remember that your textures should be realistic to try to fool the viewer.

Art - 4/29/2020

Good Morning everyone. I hope you are having a good week so far.

I have checked the projects and see that less than half of the class has turned in a completed project. Therefore I will extend the project for another class.

Today is the final day to finish the background and any other areas you may need to work on.
You may refer back to the previous lesson if you forgot the directions. Here is a link to that lesson:
https://classroom.google.com/c/NTMzNTE5NDQ0MjBa/a/NzQ5MzgxOTcyMzVa/details

Also, please review the examples I have provided so you can see what the final product should resemble.

When you finish please put your name on your artwork and share with me if you can. Please make sure you mark as turned in so I know you completed the project.
I can not wait to see the results of your hard work.

Those of you that are already finished should feel free to work on the sketchbook ideas I provided, or any other sketching/drawing you would like to do.
Just as if we were in school, if you have extra time please use it wisely.

Reading/Writing - The BFG

Making Predictions

Today in Reading/Writing, we are going to make predictions.
When good readers make a prediction, they use clues from the book to help them guess what is going to happen.
A prediction is a guess based on what happens in the book.

Watch these videos on making predictions.

Remember where we left off- Sophie and the BFG were walking back from Dream Country and all of the other giants were asleep in the yellow wasteland...
Please write a 3-5 sentence prediction about what you think will happen next in the BFG.

Write it here, or email it to me: [email protected]
I will be picking a few to share with the class on my next read aloud video!

Due:

Art - 3/25/2020 in Google Classroom

Art - 3/25/2020

Daniel Dancer - Step 1

Please view the attached PowerPoint presentation to learn about Daniel Dancer and his work.
I have also attached examples for you to view.

The first step of your project will be to draw your favorite animal to the best of your ability.
The animal should be drawn large as it is the focal point of the work. Using a reference (photo or other image) of the animal will be helpful. Some but not all detail should be included.

Remember to draw lightly and begin with a sketch that eventually will become your completed drawing. The examples I am including are completed projects. Please only complete todays portion of the project. I will explain the next step on our next A day.

This project can be completed on a piece of printer paper or any other paper that is available to you. You should spend 30 to 40 minutes on this drawing. Please take your time and put in your best effort.

Have fun!
