After the tragic events of the weekend, our community has experienced an increase in social media threats that provide details of acts of violence, as well as protest. This has given rise to much anxiety and a feeling of uneasiness.
As parents, It is as important as ever that we remain vigilant when addressing threats in the community, especially after such a tragic event within our own. The Amherst Police Department is aware of the threats circulating on social media and are working with local and federal authorities. At this time, the threats circulating are believed to be non-credible.
Additionally, we are in routine communication with the Amherst Police Department, and have created a building safety plan with their guidance. They are active and involved in the ongoing revision process to ensure the safety of our school and parish community, as situations and threat levels change.
As you visit our school, please remember that if you see something out of the ordinary or concerning, please say something to a faculty or staff member. Teaching your child/children about this concept is an important one, and they can play a role in keeping our school safe too. As always, if you have questions or concerns, please reach out to us.
This is a trying time for our community. Let us take rest in the word of God found in Joshua:
"Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you."
Blessings,
The Administrative Team
