Swim
SWIMMING: Co-Ed, Grades 1-8
- All participants MUST be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted and be able to legally swim 2 different strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle)
- This is NOT an instructional program and St. Greg’s swims in a highly competitive division
- There are between 80-100 students who participate on the swim team every year and tryouts will be necessary if the number of swimmers in a particular division is more than can compete in a weekly 2½ hour long meet
- The kids compete in 3 different age divisions (8 and under; 9 & 10 year olds; 11 and over)
- Swim meets are held every Sunday for 8 weeks in the fall and the team practices 2-3 times each week
- Practice sites rotate between several area pools
- The swim team has always ranked at or near the top of the Newman Catholic Swim League (21 schools)
