Baseball - (Boys) Grades 4 - 8
Sport Coordinator
Kevin Gilbert - kgilbert1127@yahoo.com
The 4-6 grade teams are instructional (JV level) and there is equal playing time for all players. They play on a 60 ft. diamond.

The 7 and 8 grade teams are at the Varsity level and the league is competitive. All players at the Varsity level must have knowledge and experience playing.

If it becomes necessary, based on the number of sign ups, the Varsity (7 and 8 grade) teams may be combined teams. Varsity plays on a 90 ft. diamond. Baseball generally starts in August. Games start in early September and the season ends by mid-October.

Practice starts in September and the meets are held each Monday throughout the fall season. Our St. Greg's team has won many league championships and several students have broken league records.

Swimming - (Co-ed) Grades 1 - 8

George Wands - georgewands@gmail.com

All participants MUST be able to swim the length of the pool (25 yards) unassisted and be able to LEGALLY swim 2 different strokes (Butterfly, Backstroke, Breaststroke, Freestyle).

This is NOT an instructional program and St. Greg’s swims in a highly competitive division. There are between 80-100 students who participate on the swim team every year and tryouts will be necessary if the number of swimmers in a particular division is more than can compete in a weekly 2½ hour long meet.

The kids compete in 3 different age divisions (8 and under; 9 & 10 year olds; 11 and over). Swim meets are held every Sunday for 8 weeks in the fall and the team practices 2-3 times each week. Practice sites rotate between several area pools. The swim team has always ranked at or near the top of the Newman Catholic Swim League (21 schools).

The Girls 7 and 8 grade volleyball team(s) is a Varsity sport and a very competitive team. They participate in the Northtown League. There are usually 10 - 12 players on the team. Only 6 can play at a time. The 5 and 6 grade teams are more developmental/learning the game type teams.

The season begins in late August with practices/player evaluations. Matches start in mid-September and continue through early November.

Selection cuts may be made for the Varsity team and there may not be equal playing time for all players.
