An Important Message from Avery the Dog
Hello Humans of St. Greg’s!
This is Avery, the dog of the human you refer to as ‘Dr. Stevens’. I asked him to type up this message because I don’t have opposable thumbs, and if I were to get up in his chair and try to message you, he’d probably yell at me, so I’ve found it easier to let him do things his way. Anyway, I wanted to say that I miss you; one of the highlights of my day was when my human would come home, and tell me stories all about you. Some of them were really funny, and I liked watching my human’s face light up as he told me talked about you all – I think he must care about you as much as he cares about me, which is to say a lot (even if sometimes he’s a little slow on the uptake with regards to treat-dispersal!). I hear he’s even told you Latin students a few stories about me, in the form of a dog named ‘Macula’, who I guess was based on me, even though the human assures me he’s nowhere near as smart or good looking as I am.
The past few days have been a bit tough around here. I’ve been working really hard to keep the human from getting too worried. He misses you all, and also the fact that he can’t go to Mass, which is really important to him. I pray with him, during the times when he tells me the rest of the Church is praying, and I think I’m doing a pretty good job, but sometimes I need to hug my dog (whose name is Ralph), which definitely helps me. I had the human take a photo of me so that you could see not only how adorable I am in my St. Patrick’s Day-bandana, but also to remind you to be brave like me and take care of the humans around you, even if sometimes you might get a little nervous and need to hug a stuffed animal.
The human wanted to write something, but I reminded him he’d probably not be able to match this, and so he gave up. You’re welcome!
Woof woof woof,
Avery the dog
